New Con Time

This was drawn Aug. 2012 and was my feelings on the state of furry cons. All the fun and personality of "them there olden days" seems to have left the con thing and I wish smaller cons would come back. The good thing is a few weeks later I did Furlaxation in Columbus and it felt, well, like CFE2 in 1996. Small, but big. New and exciting. Fun and land locked. (Holiday Inn Strongsville in 1996 had few restaurant choices unless you drove. Same with Furlaxation 2012, and they closed the bar early *grumble*)

So, we start with "con ghosting" and my opinion on it. "Ghosting The Elevator" is more like it at bigger cons. Also, alert the public, I told you no cameras. Then we move on to what cons used to be. AAC1 in Albany NY, give your "name" and $35, and you're there for the weekend. It wasn't a bunch of "the title to your car and a pint of your blood" that it is to register today. Of course , there would be HIJINKS as one of the more "crafty" members of our party room decided to spruce up the place.

Then there was the time at MFF when, back then, Boomer didn't have any ID other than his tag. I had to get a friend that security knew to verify that he's older than me. Of course, con security "for hire" is always happy-go-lucky and are pleased to assist you with advice on where to go. :)

So my solution? Back to the smaller cons where a fur could be a fur and no fricken cell phones or other tech could hold us from having fun. Furlaxation was kind of like that. Yeah.

Now? Caught up. Hurray. Big deal.

15 years ago roughly, I went to California for a little convention called Confurence that was actually about 20 minutes where I grew up. Over time, I've been to small cons and huge ones. And you know my feelings as I've hit burnout badly last year. But like you said at RAM, I'll be back.

And yes, years later, I still remember said Hijinks.. I miss folks like Growltiger and seeing folks like Zen and the artist formerly known as Robfox only once a year is way too long.

Oh yeah, and you as well. Still the coolest popufur ever. hands down.
